To mark the launch of our special bundle product in 2022, we decided to run our very own game competition with great prizes to be won!

Decisions, decisions

Our Premium Football Advent Calendar Game Bundle was all about combining football and Christmas games to help marketers make the most of the first ever winter World Cup. It allowed you to choose up to five different Premium ready-to-go games and combine those with a digital advent calendar, with custom graphics designed by our in-house team and a dedicated account manager to oversee the entire process.

We opted for a two-game bundle comprising two recent additions to our collection – Frosty Fortress and Football Quizmasters!

The Frosty Fortress game was rebranded to Ice Balls for the campaign:

While Football Quizmasters became Quizballs!

12 days, 12 prizes

We decided to run a 12-day campaign with daily prizes on offer for players (learn more about prize ideas for game competitions). These included:

Champagne
Vouchers
Food hamper
Peek & Poke t-shirts
Crystal Maze experience for two
Alton Towers experience for four

Next up, we needed to choose a name for the competition so that our graphic designers could bring it all to life. There were lots of great suggestions and ideas thrown around, but ‘Jingle Balls’ won in the end!

Setting things up

With two different games on the go, we wanted to alternate between them each day to keep things interesting for our audience as they returned again and again to play. Not a problem with our snazzy calendar landing page, which can be configured to change between games in any way you like!

The in-house art team went about creating all the necessary artwork for the game and calendar page, and before we knew it our Jingle Balls competition was born.

Promotion

Before launching the campaign, we created marketing assets to be used for display advertising and LinkedIn advertising. This included a campaign promo video to let people know all about the prizes up for grabs!

Once everything was ready, we sent a launch email to our mailing list and shared posts across our social media platforms. We also included links to the game from our website homepage, and ran the ads that we’d planned out earlier. 👇

Jingle ball the way

By offering daily prizes to our audience, we gave ourselves a massive helping hand when it came to keeping the momentum of the campaign going.

Our game leaderboards capture player data when they enter their score, meaning we were able to create a dedicated segment of our mailing list based on these players. We then sent out daily emails to let them know who had won the previous day’s prize and remind them to play again that day!

Of course, our wider audience also got regular reminders through our organic social media content and paid activity.
