Account Manager

Come and work with us!

Are you an experienced account manager (or customer service/success manager)? Are you comfortable dealing with inbound sales enquiries? Do you love games? This could be the role for you…

Who are we?

Peek & Poke are a Sheffield-based studio that design games for organisations looking to promote their brand and engage their audience in fun and interesting ways. Some well-known examples of these include: ARM, Boohoo, Coors Light, DFDS, Domino’s, EE, Greene King, IBM, JD Sports, Kellogg’s, Kwik Fit, LV=, Nickelodeon, Pringles & Sky.

We believe very strongly that these games must be first and foremost fun to play, but they also need to work hard as a marketing tool to deliver excellent return on investment for the brands that commission them. We aim to deliver positive experiences for the players and lasting connections between the brands and their audience.

The games are delivered online and offline, mainly for desktop and mobile devices, but also for other hardware for use at tradeshows or in-store (e.g. iPads, touch-screens, Arcade Machines, etc).

Who we’re looking for

This is a highly varied and rewarding role. Part account manager, part sales manager you’ll be responsible for guiding both new and existing clients from their initial enquiry, through the sales and production processes, to final delivery of their branded game.

You’ll be the main point of contact for prospects and clients so you’ll need to be an enthusiastic and organised people person who understands games and is just as comfortable communicating using the phone and Google Meet as you are sending emails.

This would be an ideal position for someone from an agency background or similar working as part of our small but mighty team.

You will be supported by our friendly production team, as well as the Head of Marketing and our Company Director.

For a bit more insight about what to expect, you can watch an interview with our existing account manager Leanne talking about what the role involves:

The role will be based at our Sheffield offices but there will be times when you’ll be required to travel to exhibitions or networking events outside your normal working hours. There may be the option for a hybrid working approach once fully up to speed with the role.

Your main responsibilities would be:

  • Responding to inbound telephone & email enquiries
  • Devising appropriate creative solutions for client requirements (supported by the production team and company director)
  • Preparing quotes & proposals
  • Closing sales and preparing statements of work
  • Setting up projects and briefing the production team
  • Keeping clients up to date with project progress
  • Assisting with testing of completed games
  • Maintaining good relationships with interested prospects and existing clients
  • Keeping CRM systems up to date
  • Following up post-project for feedback and referrals
  • Working with the marketing manager and director to refine sales processes and help steer marketing content and future product development
  • Attending occasional trade shows and expos with marketing manager and director

You must have:

  • At least two years’ experience in an account management (or similar) role
  • Project management experience
  • Some experience working in a sales or customer service role
  • A pro-active self-starter mentality with superb organisational skills
  • Excellent written skills with impeccable spelling, punctuation and correct use of grammar
  • Experience in word processing, spreadsheets, database & email tools
  • A good understanding of the current digital landscape

It would also be useful (but not essential) if you had:

  • Experience with collaborative online software (Basecamp, Google Docs)
  • Experience with CRM software (Zoho)
  • Experience in B2B sales or marketing role
  • A passion for casual, mobile and/or social games
  • Familiarity working in a creative, project-based work environment
  • A well thought-out plan for surviving the upcoming Zombie Apocalypse

Team culture

We are a hard-working, friendly team who enjoy what we do. Many of us are parents so having a flexible approach to working hours is important to us. Team drinks and trips to the board game café are fairly regular events and we all enjoy cakes and biscuits to keep us going through the day at our SUM Studios home.

Salary & hours

Negotiable depending on experience (Circa £30K).

Company pension scheme.

33 days holiday (Including bank holidays).

This is a full-time position for an initial 12 month contract, with potential to extend to a permanent position after that.
